2003 XL1200C handlebar vibration solutions wanted The rubber less motor mounts on my 1200 C 2003 Sporty (and, I presume, its predecessors) create a lot of handlebar vibration. That problem, addressed by the rubber-mounted motor in 2004, solved much of that difficulty.
I've read about numerous solutions to ameliorate the the vibration - bar snakes and the various handlebar stuffing options (buck shot and Silicone), do-hickeys that have offset counterweights that fit inside the handlebars to change the harmonic, changing the sprocket to move the harmonic point of the engine to a specific and more convenient RPM, etc. But I've not yet seen a solution that seems to be a true cure-all.
Does anyone make a retrofit rubber-mount system, or a spring type insert of some design, or anything new that would solve the problem? With hundreds of thousands of Sportys still chugging around, looks like some innovative engineering type could come up with a safe interface adaptable to the existing motor mount hard points to help cure this problem. Got one that really works? Invent one an make yourself a fortune, because I'm up for it if it really works.
