Default Right on

You said it Scootertramp. I have big twins too, but nothing maneuvers like that Sporty. On a long trip, you'll find me on the Ultra, but around town the XLX is quick and light. If other people can't dig it don't waste time with 'em. They're the ones missing out.

There's a reason why the Sportster has thrived for 50 years. Let the critics talk, while you keep riding the wheels off your Sporty.

It's decidedly NOT the bike I want to be on 3+ hours at a stretch in it's present form, but if someone invented a rubber-mount conversion for for pre-01 Sporties, mine would be the trip bike. Ok, rubber mounts and a bigger tank....

I rode one of them new rubber mounts with the bigger tank one day majic. Not as comfy as my bagger but compared to my olf hard mounted Sporty it was pretty darn comfy and the 4.5 gallon tank will take you a ways down the road. I was impressed. Ride safe. Clif

Default Why wouldn't you ride the classic HD??

There are plenty of reviews, both amateur and professional that consider the Sportster to be the true representative of the HD classic ride. It's preserved that title by staying true to it's orginal design and not undergoing drastic changes from one production year to the next. I LOVE IT!!!! Quick, nimple and you gotta just love the way it practically leans itself in a turn!! I've ridden several models to include and 06 Street Bob and an 07 Street Glide, but I always look forward to climbing back on a Sportster.

That being said, I would like some input from riders with longer legs. I'm not that tall (6'2" with a 32 inch inseam), but I find the compact build of the 883 to be just a bit cramped. Any taller riders experience the same thing?? I'm wondering if a forward control kit would be the answer. The 1200 is 4.3" longer, but I haven't ridden one so not sure that would make any difference. WOW, have you feasted your eyes on the XL100N Nightster?? That is one bad looking ride!!

If you think your 883 is cramped, sit on that Nightster. It reminds me of my old 76 CH ironhead. I had forward controls on my 2001 883C and it was fine. I am 5'10" and have the same 32" inseam and the fit me comfortably.

I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam. We put forward controls on the '07 Sporty, and its fine for me. I'd advise you take the leap and put them on your scoot. Lots more room than the standard mid controls.
