Default Cylinder & Head Bolt Wrench

Anyone know where I can find a curved wrench to tighten cylinder and head bolts?

Hey, Baggerdad. Is this for the Shovel? I picked up a manifold wrench at the auto parts store. It's box end with semi-horseshoe shape. Works pretty well.

Yeah Shovel-- I used one of those for along time on my shovels head bolts..

I would suggest a torque wrench extention however for the tightening..

I don't know if they are available everywhere,, I got mine from Snap-on,, it's
2" long so you gotta reduce the torque value accordingly, I'll tell ya how if you need that info..
I also had to make (cut and re-weld) a 3" long extention for a couple of the more difficult bolts..
I'll send photos if you want..

What size are the head and cylinder bolts for various Harleys?

Can you use the same tool on Knucks, Pans & Shovels?

And photos are always good here.

Hi Buzz

Um, the Pan and Shovel head bolts I've experience with are all 7/16"x 20 TPI..
I am un-aware if there were other sizes..

The bolt heads were a 9/16" stock,, and 7/16" 12 point for big bore..

The cylinder nuts I've known, and boy I've known some,,,,, are 5/8" stock and 1/2" big bore..

But,, you knew all that already dint ya..!!

Never messed with a Knuckle..

I'll insert a photo of the wrench extension if you'll tell me how..

Default BaggerDad

I heated and bent an extra 9/16 wrench for my old pan head. It worked pretty well except the wrench seemed to bend a bit when I started getting those head bolts nice and tight. I bent it about 1 1/2" from the closed end of the wench.

cheers!
