Default harley specialty tools

why is it in the HD manual,it gives you the part number for specialty tools, but you can't get them from the dealer ? where else can you get them ? i have bought some from George's garage,Jims, and occasionally off e bay.

I know what you are talking about and often wondered about it myself. I just wonder over to Home Depot and try to find what I need. I don't understand why they have to use so many different size anything????? it is a mystery to me. I told my wife Harley needed to put together all the tools it took to work on an Ultra - then it hit me - it would be more than I could afford! what was I thinking??????

I have lots of tools....i started buying specialty tools like cam tensioner unloaders ,primary drive lock, stuff like that.warranty is out on bike.i can do the work, just need the right tool for the job.i found a site on the net that tells how to make your own tools, that's good if you can cut yours up ,i find that it is cheaper and more reliable to save up and buy the tools, now every mech has had to modify their tools,it's odd, buying tools hoping to never have to use ,but knowing one day you will....

I figure I can buy a lot of tools for $100 dollars an hour and the repair manual is well worth the $60. I'm suprised HD doesn't charge $1000 for it to make up for missing labor.

Question

I am looking for a breakout box as described in the electrical diagnostics manual. Harley will not sell these. What does everyone else do on this matter. Like to here any thoughts or suggestions.

I've also found tools on Dennis Kirk and J&P cycles. If you want to pay a premium price your dealer or an independent shop can order from Drag Specialties. An independent is usually cheaper then the dealer.

As far as a break out box I have no clue ware you might find one of those. Perhaps it's fictional to make you think you can't fix something yourself.

After comparing prices for the special tools needed to do cam service on the Twin-Cam, I ordered mine from Jireh. I got all Jim's.

Default Tools

breakout box is a tool that is used for electrical problems on bikes with ecms.
the box ties in between harness and ecm. the manual tells you values sensors should be. you all so need a good volt/ohm meter.
