frrisco-the old style blueing is sweet, much more a fan of the blueing than the fancy cromed out ones of now a days.

I have a S&W model 66 .357 with a 2" barrel and a cherry grip. Had it for nearly ten years and I've never needed anything else. Love that weapon.

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

Thumbs up

Hi all love the tool info. I also have my concealed carry permit and normally cary my 38 bodyguard Smith model. Also have 45 colt single action purchased in 1964 when in the Air Force stationed in Germany.
Also have 357 Power port Smith 6" barrel and matching Ruger MKIII 22's with red dot sights for target shooting for myself and my wife. Note! she is more consistent than me at the range.
Have a Smith laser griped equiped 357 in the night stand.
But anyway i will get a basic tool kit together soon with spring coming.
I don't have a cell phone, but i am looking into the phones with the cards for limited usage in case i do get stranded and can't get myself going again.
I just finished reloading some 38 casings and will be going to the club soon to try them out.
Thanks for the great advise from everyone. This is a great site. Since i am getting back into riding after a long layoff i appreciate all the help.

Keep the shiney side up and shoot straight!

Figure on tools for the most common ailments, I like the multi purpose tools, they do the job of many and take up less room. As for the other topic, S&W 637 Airweight for concealed carry and a Beretta Mod 96 DA only for the vehicle.

I carry a Windzone tool kit - the only thing I have added to it is a crescent wrench. Used it a few times when I have come up on someone broken down....Oh yes I carry a tire fix it kit........you just never know.

All this talking got me to trade in my Springfield XD 9mm for a S&W 357 Model 686. The extra inch from my wifes S&W 357 Model 60 is noticable on the Target. Accurate as hell. She likes mine better now.

Yeah I took it in the shorts on the trade. But heck. Didnt want it no more.

Like I said before. I love revolvers. I am down to all revolvers now.

Still would like me to get a Colt Navy. Not a replica either. Price is out of range for one in good condition. I look at one that needed some work but I know of no smith in the area that will touch it.

Besides I would want to shoot it. Just a dream. Someday.

Default Tools

I carry spark plugs, fuel line, hose clamps, tape, elec wire. A lot of this is hold over from days gone by. The only down time I have had in the last 10 yrs was due to flat tires. Cell phone and credit card.

Joe: shooting an original navy would get really expensive. Shooting any open top black powder revolver means you will learn to replace parts yourself. Sinc black powder is corrosive you need to clean after firing. For cheap fun try a Ruger Old Army. Cheap shooting witha stainless gun with good sights.

Reloading is fun. You can save money or shoot a lot more !

Oh I have a lot of Cheap shooting revolvers.

Something about that old Colt Navy. Was allowed to play with one a bit at a gun show. Something about it.

Cleaning is no problem all are cleaned after firing. Oiled and maintained. Like riding it clears the head. Besides you dont want a gun to "not work" due to bad maintenance

I would not shoot that piece of history much. Thats why I aint jumping to buy unless I get a good deal. Elvis bike in the barn kind of deal.

Maybe just on Birthdays and Holidays.

My wife has a Smith Wesson 357 no running from her. My kids practice with a Smith Wesson 22 revolver. I had to unload their Ruger Mark 3 for my wifes 357.

Looking at a Colt Navy

I love revolvers. But I tell ya.... That XD Semi Auto is a breeze to clean.
I have a Colt Python .357 Magnum with 6-inch barrel. I also have a Walther PPK, but I don't trust it any further than I can throw it. I'll use it for cover while I'm reloading the Python, which is accurate as Hell and never misfired for me, in a fire fight. Great tip about the shell casings (you can never be too careful in the work environment). Way to turn a thread around to the good stuff, Joe!
