Default Road Service

Oh the way home from work Wednesday night I rounded a corner to find a section of the road strewn with bent nails. No time to stop I swerved to avoid the majority, but one caught my rear tire. Thursday morning I took my truck to work because the bike's rear tire was flat. The local dealer wanted $80 to come get the bike so I clipped the nail as close to the tire as I could with a pair of side cutters, pumped the tire up to 40 psi and rode to the dealer. New tire and all is well. However, my insurance company doesn't offer towing coverage for bikes, only cars and trucks. Any good deals out there for towing coverage? I sure would have liked to have the bike picked up to be repaired.

Yeah, I could have pulled the wheel and taken it to the dealer, but I want to ride this weekend and I just don't have any free time until Saturday.

Harley HOG road service will tow to the dealer. AAA with a RV rider will tow anywhere you want to go, including home.
I have the AAA with the RV, and think it is a three hundred mile limit.

AAA offers extended tow coverage with its AAA Plus plan. It costs more per year, but that one time you need to be towed up to 100 miles, the money is well spent. That's from personal experience.

Adam,

I heard AAA frown upon picking up bikes. I guess that was BS? Good to know. BOtz

Thumbs up Re: Road Service

I have Allstate and have had to have my bike towed once. Great service and the tow company has a small trailer they use to pick up bikes. I have heard (Read) horror stories about bike tows and was concerned but my experience was a good one! Allstate even called me 40 min. after the tow truck promised to be there and made sure I got picked up! I was Very Satisfied!

AAA Gold Plus RV. Will tow anything on wheels including a truck with a trailer. Up to 100 miles. 6 times a year. I have used it MANY MANY times on many different types of bikes and even other people's bikes. As long as the card is there for the driver they don't care who's bike or car it is. $70 a year for the first car and $40 for each addition card user.
