I mostly work on older bikes, with a lot of the old-fashioned split lock washers. Funny how that old technology doesn't really fail. If I use the split-locks, I try to always use new ones that are fresh and sharp, and apply anti-sieze to the threads; if I use no lock washer at all, that's when I use threadlocker. Nyloc nuts are great, too.
