Default Nord-Lock Washers

I had a guy come to work advertising the nord lock locking washers, look like a real real good solution to vibrating bolts loose. Thought some people might wanna check em out, www.nord-lock.com might be the best solution to buying loctite I've seen,as the are reusable.

I got some samples when that guy come to present, I've used em, They work great, but I don't know how much that shows on my rubber mount sporty. I also got a bottle opener with a set of washers and a wing nut on it, you can finger tighten the wing nut and have to get a set of pliars to get it off...

One comment about the Nord-Lock washers...the surfaces of the washer are serrated where they contact the bolt head and the part being bolted. I used a similar design washer bolting a windshield wiper motor to the firewall of an off-road vehicle. The serrations cut into the mild steel plate the motor was riveted to. A year later, after much hard off-road running, the cuts had become cracks and migrated to the point where the steel plate was about to fail. I would consider carefully where to use these since our bikes vibrate quite a bit. Not saying they are bad, by any means - they look like an effective device and superior to split or star washers. I just think I would avoid use in places like the tin.

Yeah your right man, yeah bikes vibrate quite a bit so how is the non-lock washer?

Nord-Lock washers work great, for industrial applications, not so sure if they would be ideal for motorcycles. Again the abrasive factor on the surface metal. The washers have to be torqued to factory specs depending on the size of the washer and they are a one time use item. If removed or taken loose, they must be replaced.
We use these in the tire plant where I work for installing bearings and roll mounts. They work great, but I would not use them on my bike.

I came here to say what Petiej just said.

Well, except for the tire plant part.

NORD-LOCK makes impressions on the surfaces, they do not scratch or score. The NORD-LOCKs are harder than other surfaces which forces the cams to come int play
