Default Battery Jumper Box

Ive seen these battery jumper boxes sold that can jump start a bike or car without having to plug it into a wall plug. As I understand it they have rechargable batteries in them.

Are these worth owning? Pluses and minuses please.

Bagger ...

I own one of these jumper boxes, and I think that they are great. The dealership that I work at has at least 6 of them. The plusses are that you can go darn near anywhere and not have to drag a cord with you, they are portable, and the rechargeable batteries seem to last a good long time.

The only negative that I've found was that on the one that I own, you have to turn the power "on". I found that out the hard way just today as a matter of fact when I had to start my car and the battery was dead. tried the jumper box and still nothing. When I went to plug it into the wall to recharge it, I then saw (and remembered) about the switch. Boy did I feel stupid!

But all in all, I think that they are the cat's meow!

I have one and for my purposes it's sweet. I just have to occasionally check the charge of the unit but, it has never failed me. I have helped a few folks out with it on the highway as well.

Is there anything I should look for or avoid when buying one?

Is one model better than the others?

Dunno 'bout other brands..but I got mine at Sears YEARS ago,and although I've only used it about 1/2 dozen times..it HAS gotten the job done.
Only thing I can add is to make sure the one you get is the kind you can leave plugged in (smart charge) all the time..so it's ready if/when you need it.
