| | More of a request Anyone got a LOOOOONG piece of 5/64 hex? Even my longest T-driver won't reach. And I can't use an extension on a 1/4" drive with a bit of short hex because the space is about the size of a Cheerios hole. |

Maybe you could Weld a 5/64" allen wrench to a length of round stock...(cut the "L" end off) heat the weld and hammer is till it is the same diameter as the rod (or grind it) just dont grind too much ...... then weld or bend a handle on the end.....
this works if you have access to a welder.... brazing it could work too.
good luck

| | Re: More of a request How long of a piece do you need? I've got some pieces of hex stock in my toolbox at work, I'll look & see what I've got Tuesday when I get into the shop. What you working on that you need the extra long wrench?
If we can't find the hex you need I can weld a short piece to a welding rod for you like Uncle P suggested.
Let me know if I can help.

| | Re: More of a request Hmmm one time prior to my owning a welder, I used to take stuff to the local muffler shop. They seemed to be happy to zapp stuff together real quick, for a few dollars...or a box of do-nuts etc... Catmechanic had an idea.... maybe the local harware store has hex rod, or a misc metals shop. or we could just make one up and send it to you.... let one of us know... thru a pm if you need it sent to you.
what part of the bike are you needing to get at?? kinda curious.

| | Re: More of a request Majicbringer,
I'll look in my toolbox tomorrow to see what I have. I'm fairly certain I've got something in there, if it's too short I'll make it longer for you. It might be this weekend before I'd get it welded though since my TIG's out at Dad's shop. I'm going out there Saturday to work on the Triumph. Send me your address in a PM or e-mail & I'll get something headed your way.

| | Re: More of a request Yeah Mike----not only close quarters but also soooo small,, 5/64" ==.0781"..
The only thing I know that takes that is a No. 6 hex screw..
I looked, unfortunately the longest 5/64 I have is only 4" long, cannot assist Maj..

| | Re: More of a request It's a doodad for something totally unimportant and I want my own unimportant doodad on something else and it's in the way. Why they put it on I don't know, but I get this feeling that they put it on and then reassembled the whole ass end of the bike and motor afterward. | | | |
