Default Adjusting SE Race Clutch

Just wondering if any one has any experience in adjusting a SE race clutch as far as spring pressures are concerned. I just want to get the most holding power out of it.

Maybe someone else may know better. I dont believe there should be any difference in clutch adjustment as to a normal clutch. You already have the new clutch springs and such installed?

The clutch has 6 coil springs that are tensioned by nylock nuts that set the tension. Just wondering the best setting for the tension on the springs.

Did the directions give you a setting to use? If so I would start there and tweek as needed. I guess it depends on the amount of power your engine is putting out and your feel that would make the most difference.

Anyone have thoughts on a racing clutch? I never installed one on a bike.

Hey HD15
I would adjust it for your comfort cuz there's no way it's not going to grab..

I am using old (and I mean old) 4-spd mouse-trap clutch set-ups with old discs and plates in both the 93" shovel and the 120"..

I have them both adjusted loose and easy, you know, for my comfort..

I can light em both up in a blink,, there's no slippage kick-starting or hole-shooting and my hand hardly knows it's pulling a thing..

The 127" is in front of an old OEM stock '86 clutch..

The Performance industries have folk believing that you all need super stout "Race" parts in stock sickles.. Pure BS..

Unless of course, you're at the track every week-end with the daily commuter..

No I'm not at the track but do like things to last so I don't have to do repairs all the time. I'm pushing 119 hp and 110 ftlbs of torque out of a 95" Twin cam at the rear wheel...I'm just wondering if turning the nuts in will make if grab and if I do adjust it how tight to go.

I only have one problem with the clutch now and that is trying to find nutral at a stop.

Hdnt: I believe the design of the SE racing clutch is similar to that of my old Shovel. The manual gives a measurement for the spring retainer to pressure plate distance but I generally just evenly adjust down those nuts just to the point where the clutch won't slip and will still allow smooth shifts and no clutch drag at stoplights.
