Default Primary or Tranny Seal Leak

Hey all,

Just got back from a nice 400 mile run upstate/Mass and Vermont. (91 Dyna EVO) Noticed a leak on the rear of the inner primary dripping down right behind the primary drain plug. Not sure if its primary fluid or tranny. Gonna have to remove and fix. Odd thing is when bike is upright no leak only on side stand which leads me to believe it may be tranny seal. Anyone have similiar experience? Botz

Hey,botz
I have'nt had that problem, with a Harley...yet !! But, you might want to check fluid levels in the primary & trans to see which ones low..or,just do the "smell-test",noting that trans-fluid tends to smell kind of "nasty" to me.

Hey EVOKENEVO,

Thanks for the advice. I did however change the fluids in both prior to this trip. Its not leaking enough to show up just yet. Both cases have the same Harley crap in them cause thats all I could get my hands on at the moment. Im gonna open it all up. Big trip coming up and dont want it to become a headache on the road. Gonna replace all the seals and check out the chain and clutch while im in there. Might as well. Botz
