Default Baker 7 Speed

Just read about the new Baker DD7 7 speed trans in the new issue of American Iron Magazine and I want one. Too bad it isn't made yet for my year bike. But my fingers are crossed that it will be soon.

Holy Cow

Pretty soon we'll need a 3spd Brownie Box to shift all these gears..

Ok, who knows what a Brownie is..

A Brownie is ..a pre-girlscout..a tasty dessert..or something too crude to mention here

A 3spd Brownie Box...essentially triples your transmission gear selection... divided (?) into 3 ranges...kind of like a 15spd bicycle with 3 sprockets on the pedal crank and 5 sprockets on the rear axle...only different !!!

For you truck drivers.... Anyway 7 speeds? Seems a little ridiculous.

I've been able to handle life just fine with a 3 or 4 speed trans for many years. What's the deal with 7 speeds - what's the value?

Default Crazy

As torquey as a H-D is 4 gears are plenty, as far as I'm concerned they came up with the 5 speed more for marketing than anything else because the Japanese had them...7 speed, ridiculous.

Are we have a 2nd foot lever for the brownie or will that be a foot clutch hand shift just to complicate things a bit more. I do recall the old 14 speed tractors having the 7 speed X 2 range. You could run high range only empty but needed low for running full.
