Default Drive Belt uper or lower

I adjust the drive belt myself on my 2003 FXSTD, simple procedure. I use the HD manual, but I have had HD mechanics say to do the adjustment at the lower strand not the upper strand as the manual directs. After some research I have found both ways suggested. Would like to get some inputs on this. So what do you think is the best way?

Hi BC

I figured somebody woulda replied on this by now..

I'm Not surprised both ways have been sugg'd,, cuz heck,, neither way is any diff than the other..
Loose is loose & tight is tight..

I adjust my Chains by the top strand cuz the bottom is blocked by my rigid-frame rails but I do the bottom strand of Belt on my Lil HoneySuckles sickle cuz the top is blocked by Bags..

Ease and convenience baby..!
