Yep. Rubber bushing on wrong side of primary. I'm pretty stupid, I know. How could I make a mistake like that.
Tonight I took the primary drive off again to remove the little rubber bushing and put it on the correct side.
Everything is fine now.
The bike is fixed.
Hooray. Hooray.
Now I'll need to work on my back.

I enjoyed the heck out of it. I wish I could do that kind of work all the time. I'm not going to say it was easy but, it was really unbolting and rebolting and paying attention to the service manual.

I left out a little screwup. I drained the brand new Primary II oil out to do the last job intending to put it back in. It had been in for one day. Well, guess what? When I started pouring it back in I noticed some oil running on the concrete between my boots. Check. Forgot to put the plug back in after seeing right through it with the primary cover off and making a mental note to make sure to put it back in before adding the saved oil. Now I know you guys are going to clown me.

Thanks HC. I hope you never have to go through this, either.

I got a chance to read all the posts. I am new to this forum, but folks like you T Bone will keep me around, for sure.
Congrats T Bone that was a good job with the repair and the details too. You fought that shifting issue and won. I'll be a winner too, if I ever have your symptoms.
