I have had good results pounding a snug fitting allen bit into the head of stripped torx fastners. When you are done, don't use a new torx screw, as they all like to strip out easily. I recommend replacing any and all torx screws with allens.

Thumbs up

I have had the same problems. I have used both a dremmel or a chisel and cut a slot in the top of the bolt in a cross pattern. Then used a phillips bit to loosen. After that I went to the hardware store and got better bolts.

I invested in a several decent sets of torx tools. One set fits a socket & the other is like screw drivers with the torx tips. They have worked well. The only place I have a friggin problem is with the ones that hold down fittings on the handle bars. I went to clean the air filter on my 06 Chevy PU the other day & they have also went to the torx. Pain in the ass!

Doncha just love it---- I've used both dsl8 and JC's method but, instead of a cross pattern for a phillips I just gound straight across for a straight blade...

I sometimes use a cold chisel, at an angle to the outer edge of the screw head. Or, I have a center punch ground down slowly and cooled 'till it resembles a #2 pencil. You won't believe what you can get loose with this. Wrung off bolts, too. Long as you have good threads.
