First I've heard of this. What does the dealer say?

Ive seen the finish coming off HD wheels before. Also the quality of the hardware they are using has been deteriorating. Brand new bike and bolts rusting, etc. My 91 still has the original hardware and hasnt started rusting. I think they must be cutting corners. I'de be ticked if my 09 wheels started peeling. Make 'em give you new wheels. Botz

What he said. No rust on my 07, but had some on my '03's bolts. But she lived under a cover outside .

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

Man that sucks, but I'm pretty irritated with the MoCo too. My lower fork sliders have pits in them (from what? I don't know) and my rotors are rusted, as are the spacers in between the forks and blinkers. Nevermind the fact my bike is an 08....

Hope they take care of you!

bike is back home and will wash it to make sure the leak issue is resolved.
the spots on the wheels are from what appears to be water spots that have discolored. I thought that the wheels had a finish on them but they do not...just brushed aluminum. So, treating with a polish compound seems to be the answer. No more just washing and drying the bike/ wheels. Now comes elbow grease...applying polish/ finish on the wheels...sounds like another excuse for 'another beverage' ha!

Try some Blue Magic. I used it on my aluminum risers and they look chromed now. Can't do anything about the fork legs as they are covered in a clearcoat. You would have to completely remove the clearcoat to polish the aluminum and then it would be an eternal process. The lowers will have to get pretty bad before I do that.

Thats a pretty good attitude Peterk...
There is a product out there that I use on aluminum called "Flitz". It works great and after using it the aluminum looks like chrome. Just buy one of those polishing balls that go on the end of your drill and the shine is for real.
Load some pics of that trike when you get a chance.

Some of the newer HD wheels DO have a clear coat on them. Just make sure it really is water spots. Dont get BS 'ed by the dealer. My buddies '08 you can see the clear peeling off the wheels. Just be sure. Botz
