I'll bet you're the same guys that said I was riding a "girls bike" when I had the Sporty and poked fun at my "Geezerglide" when I got the bagger.
I bought my trike - an Ultra/CSC - two years ago and frankly, I kept the bagger for a year just to be sure. I have absolutely loved the trike from day one and never looked back.
We did Sturgis '08 on the trike and it was a blast. It's no slouch but won't win many drag races. It will however, hang with the pack in the hills and twisties, provides ultimate comfort on the Interstates and draws a crowd at the stops.
Trikes are here to stay!

Something to be said about the safety of that third wheel to let the vehicle pivot when struck. |

| | Re: Opinion Of Trikes & Trike Riders I ride a 2009 TriGlide, had a converted Sporty for 3 years, my only caution with a converted sportster is the power issue. I think that's why they beefed up the motor for the TriGlide. Trikes, there is a lot of bad attitude amongst the rice rocket set even now trying to belittle trikes and their riders. However, the general public is amazing and hilarious. My husband rides a HD Deluxe and we park the bikes side by side and everyone zeroes right in on the trike. My old one must have had her picture taken hundreds of times. The new one gets a lot of questions because most folks haven't seen a factory trike. They ask what kind of conversion, and I tell them, nope, factory and they are all questions then. A trike will get you into a conversation anywhere you go. |

| | Re: Opinion Of Trikes & Trike Riders I agree that the old mindset on trikes is changing, riders and nonriders alike. My wife rides a trike and when we stop people tell me nice bike, but they have a lot of questions for her about the ride and handling of her trike. Out on the road cages will ride for miles alongside her looking and pointing at her trike. At least I think they are looking at her trike. |

| | Re: Opinion Of Trikes & Trike Riders I have never understood the weay some people look down on other people's rides. Preferring a 2 wheel Harley over any other brand is fine. Good natured teasing about it is fun too, as long as everyone is in on the joke. But to me, a rider is a rider. The air in your face feels exactly the same on a 2 wheel bike or a 3 wheeled trike. The sense of freedom is the same too. I have a bad knee, and after dumping a bike a few times because of it, I got a trike. It's been a damned fine ride, and allows me to keep on keeping on. But I have had a lot of pretty nasty looks and remarks sent my way by 2 wheeled riders, and I have to say, Harley people being the worst. By the way...my bad knee? From shrapnel wounds in Vietnam, 101st Airborne. I shouldn't have to explain myself to anyone. At any rate, now harley is selling them in their shops, so the stigma might be passing a bit. I'll tell you one thing, in the last few years, there's a LOT of trikes on the road!!! |

| | Re: Opinion Of Trikes & Trike Riders Sorry about the knee. Did 3 tours in Nam and spent the last 9 months in the Service at Walter Reed learning to walk, no complaints, and I don't explain myself to anyone! As I said in my previous post my wife rides a trike (she has two), and here in Fl. you have to have a motorcycle endorsement on your license to ride a trike! When the time comes that I can't swing a leg over two wheels I'll be on three. I don't care what bike/trike you ride, if you ride your one of us. Keep it in the wind brother. |

| | Re: Opinion Of Trikes & Trike Riders Servicars have always been cool. There is a guy in town that has one with a 37 UL motor in it instead of the stock 45 incher. In my opinion Ron Finch's bikes are wacky. There is a guy in town that won a Finch bike in a raffle. He did not know it was a Finch bike until they did some research. Here is a link to some photos of the bike. THE PAINT CHOP * MOTORCYCLES

| | Re: Opinion Of Trikes & Trike Riders I've been riding since 1965, drove all year in Maryland, until bad crash. Told wife I would lay off riding until I retire. Well 2006 retired and moved to South Carolina, 3 months later 04 RoadKing Custom with Leaman Kit. had only 3,000 miles. Harley Dealers wife asked the dealer to buy it back. the next day I showed up, they never had time to post it on the leaman dealer's site under used trikes. Took some time getting used to it, but its cool. Now driving all year down here. No Choice to make for me on riding a trike. (Legs) | | | |
