Thumbs up Re: Opinion Of Trikes & Trike Riders

I love my new 2010 Ultra Classic Tri-Glide. I traded in a 2009 Road Glide on the Tri-Glide and never looked back. The bike is easy to handle and does get a lot of attention everywhere we go.
It really shines when out on the back roads and freeways. A lot more confortable and we dont have to stop as often to stretch.
The bike is well built and features safety and creature comforts the road glide did not offer.
I still like to ride two wheelers and still would like to own a V-Rod some day.

OK I will be the first one to admit it. 10 years ago I would have scoffed at the suggestion that I might ride a trike when I get old. Now looking at the latter years, although still in the future, it is starting to look a little more pleasing on 3 wheels. Riding on 3 wheels is better than not riding at all.

Buzz to answer your question, as the boomers age you will see more and more trikes.

There ya go... That's pretty much my thoughts, too.
Of course, I hope to be able to still handle a motorcycle when I reach 83.

You can tell by the forum's responses the perception is still there.

Interestingly enough, the friends I have that ride trikes and sidecars are not old or disabled. They ride them because they are unique and can afford them

My younger brother (in his 60s) has been riding motorcycles since he was a teen. (Our first bikes were 305cc Honda Dreams --- does anyone remember them?) In recent years, his knees have seriously deteriorated because of arthritis. It finally got to the point that he would either have to quit riding or get a trike.

He bought a 2009 Street Glide and had a DFT conversion done. The reason he didn't buy a H-D Triglide is because he preferred the look of the "smoothie" body rather than the "touring" body. He liked the "cleaner" look of the Street Glide as compared to the Ultra Classic to go with the smoothie body. He also preferred the independent suspension that DFT offered.

On an additional note, my back problems have intensified in recent years, so my wife and I purchased an enclosed trailer to make it more comfortable to get our bike to distant riding destinations. My brother used to give us a little grief for using a trailer but may be a little more tolerant now that he has made a change in his riding "equipment."
