Default Quest for power

Does H-D offer a stroker flywheel and rod kit for injected EVO? Who does head work? Winter is going to be very boring.

You don't see a lot of Evos with any more than 89". The stock cases don't like strokers and big bore kits. Any bigger than 89" and the reliability goes way down. Twin Cams have much better cases. To go bigger displacement you need either aftermarket cases like S&S or Delkron or even better yet aftermarket Evo engines up to 124c.i.

Evo heads flow pretty good in stock form or with a mild valve job. It's not hard to get over 70 hp with fairly stock but milled heads and carb, cam, air filter, and pipes. For the best reliability keep the dispacement at 80".

milindh, sorry I haven't been here to respond to your answer. That sounds about right, Harley would make something that just isn't made for big tweeking. I found a builder in Ohio called HotShot Motorworks they claim a 91 HP 80CI but they apper to use delcron cases. I put a EV27 cam in and it made an improvement in performance, but I know there is moore to be had. While I had my exhaust off I looked into the ports and saw some oily film comming from the valve guide so maybe a head job is in order. It's FI so I'm not sure haw far they can go either, what type of power gain is available.

i have a 96 evo bagger installed cranes 316 cam se heads weisco 10.5:1 pistons and a Cobra 2 into 1 with cranes ignition and had it dyno'd and has 90hp and 90 tq to rear wheel not bad at 80" and carberated but the efi will get similar results

It's not uncommon at all to get 75-80hp out of a 80" Evo with the usual mods and 90 hp is totally realistic with the right build. My 2000 FXR4 (all Screamin' Eagle except for Mikuni carb and V&H pipes) dynoed at 92hp. VERY quick bike! A good friend of mine has a 510lb FXR with STD cases, jugs ( I think but maybe not), and STD heads along with stroker crank. 96 cu. in. What a little beast! No dyno runs but we're guessing about 120 hp at the rear wheel. At least 110 hp. We were out playing on I-80 this weekend and with his girlfriend on the back he popped a wheelie and pulled right away from me riding solo. Not by a lot but still.... I believe the 110-120hp estimate. He's been building hi-po Harleys for 45 years. His bike is a beautiful machinery as art little jewel. Dependable too. My FXR has 31k on the build. I get a little valve guide leakage these days but it still runs good. I think high lift cams can accelerate valve guide wear, especially on Evos.
