Default oil filter trick

I tried this the other day seemed to work pretty well.......take a gallon antifreeze jug and cut the bottom off, slide it under your oil filter, look and see how much more has to be cut off,cut it from bottom to top leaving just enough room to get to filter, you will be cutting on the down tube side,a little may have to be cut on motor side, when you are done cutting you will have cut the bottom off and a side opposite the spout off.slide the jug under oil filter with the spout down, loosen filter and the oil drains out the spout and away from your frame.not really good at explaining.hope you get the idea, hope this helps.....L8R

knees up ,rubber down.......Jim

I made one from a 2 liter soda bottle back in '95. It has worked well, but it's gettin pretty worn out, and I'll have to make another soon. They've changed the way the bottom is formed, and soda bottles no longer work, so I'll give your idea a try. Thanks!

Made mine from a Bleach Bottle. Always beats cleaning especially the middle of Winter oil change

The bottle method does work, but can make it a little difficult to get to the filter. What I do is to take a sheet of foil, bend it up like a taco, and slide it under the filter. The oil drains down the foil, into the drain pan, then you just throw the foil away. Just another method...

I use a plastic oil bottle but I still spill oil when I remove the filter.

With the bike on the jiffy stand, punch a hole at the end of the filter with a large screwdriver and drain the filter first.

I do that as well, kerry...I take a center punch, ding it bottom and top, get the drill and drill the bottom first- just enuff to punch thru, then the top for a vent. Being warm helps it to drain quickly.
