Question LCD oil temp dipstick

Just picked up a 00 dresser that has an old style H-D LCD oil temp dipstick. The LCD is not working, and I'm sure it needs a new battery. I can't find a way to get into the gauge head to change the battery. This is the old style gauge, with the bar and shield in the display, not the new style with the oil level bars. Anyone remember how to get to the battery on this gauge? Thanks in advance for any help.

I haven't owned one of those, but I remember seeing an article on changing the battery and they had to remove a screw and partially disassemble the top of the unit. Look around the rubber seal where it fits into the neck of the oil tank.

Default Got er done

Under the flat rubber washer there were 3 screws, couldn't get anything to fit them. Finally figured out they were #8 Torx. My set just went down to T10, so a visit to the local snap on guy netted me a T8 driver. Screws out, battery changed, but now it reads 283 F on a cold engine (ambient air 40 F). Anyone know of a reset, or is it just a trot line weight now?

On some digital watches you have to reset watch after battery change by using a wire or paper clip to Touch back of battery and another contact point in back of unit to clear it out.

No directions or tab in back huh?

Here is a sight on Harley LCD Battery replacement that may help. Says to be careful not to break a thin wire.

Yeah me again. On the site I gave below its says Oil must be up to 160 degrees before it can read accuratly. The site below will bring you in on the second page. My fault. When you get in you can tab to page one.
