| | Fuel Inj. anything else required. Scenario:- 05 1450 Twin Cam, has stage 1, gets Dealer to chip fuel Inj. gizmo
Then gets S&S 510G Gear driven Cams, question, will anything else be required to richen the mixture or will the Dealer 'Flash' already have covered this off?
Best regards Stretch.
PS I do not require advice on power commanders or different systems, I'll figure that one out later, will the work already done be enough,or not, thats my question.
PSS thanks in advance, |

| | I would go with a programmer. The 510 cam is a lot different then the stock cam and to get the most out of it you should have the right timing and fuel mix. |

| | I have a big bore 1550 10.5:1 comp. SE heads with S&S springs and 625G cams. I have totally gotten rid of the stock ECM and installed a thunder max that self adjusts. I only have 1 problem when it gets wet I have a malfunction that I am trying to trouble shoot. Other then that it runs like it never has before and thats a good thing.
The 510G will be a good stock replacement cam. I find the gear drive noisier but it seems to rev smoother and there is less drag on the motor but that could just be me.
With the dealer download I was always running way lean and almost cooked my pistons.

| | Don't believe you're going to get by with the current ecm map. Check with your dealer to see if they have a download for the 510G, but don't be surprised if they want to sell you a race tuner. And I'd listen to hdnt1550. You'll cook your engine if you keep running it with the old program. |

| | Thanks for that kawhalen,
I have now gone with the Fueller.
Another diffrerence, (probably a different thread) since changing the cams the engine exhaust note has really gone up, I first brought the bike home with the previously fitted S/E slash cuts. the noise level seemed to have gone to such a level/note which seemed to cut straight through any noise insulation my helmet provided.
I then decided, because the cams were S&S I would fit their Air Filter and also their slash cut mufflers, to make (in my world!) everything match.
Of course this has not lowered the noise level any.
Any one else experienced noticebly higer exhaust noise levels after installing aftermarket cams.
Best regards Stretch. |

PSS thanks in advance, | Do you have O2 sensers if you do you need a power commander that over rides it. Vance & hinds has one and I think Cobera is the only other.you should throw it on a dyna to have it tuned. (Phantom fixer)

| | I am a big believer in when doing mods - you dyno the thing - especially if you download a dealer update - they are much leaner than necessary.
