Default New to the forum

This past Saturday I bought a 1999 Ultra. For the past 5 years I have riden a VROD, but the wife has not been willing to ride to far. I kept the VROD and purchased the Ultra from a Ga dealer. It had 13,800 miles and looks brand new. The guy that had it before must have broken the bank with the extras and chrome.

I don't want to break forum rules but I have a few questions.

1. I run synthetic in my VROD, would it hurt to run it in the Ultra (all oil uses)?

2. Any tips I should know regarding the differences in the bikes? The Ultra requires a lot more effort to ride, it will take some getting use to.

Tuco,

Since Harley came out with SYN 3 I believe they now approve the use of synthethic oils in all of there bikes. I currently run AIMS and have read reviews stating that Mobil 1 and AIMS are both really good oils if you don't want to run or pay the price to run HD SYN 3.

I would reccomend that you take the time to just go out and ride the ULTRA and let yourself get comfortable with it while enjoying the time riding. It won't take that long to get used to how it rides and feels.

Tuco: Not the same one from the movie "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly?"

Its okay to run synthetic in the ultra.

The two bikes are Night and Day. The handling will be much different. Take it easy at first. Ride solo until you are comfortable then let the Mrs hop on back.

Yep Synthetic is fine. Been running Mobile one in Harleys since mid 90's. Used to get a big kick outta the Stealer dudes saying it would make roller bearings "skate". I would say so what??

Enjoy that new scoot. lotttsa fun having your lady with you. Eh?

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

Welcome to the forum. I've run Mobil 1 VTwin for 19,000 miles in my '06 Low Rider and I don't think you can go wrong with any other good synthetic oil.

I agree with the others to ride solo to get used to the handling characteristics of the Ultra before putting the wifey on back. (And encourage her to try to sit still when you are coming to a stop and taking off)
