Hi JD

First if I may----what makes you think you need a new clutch, is it cuz of the new power or do you need a new one anyway.?

I can prob save you some money with my experience..

My very stout 93" shovel sits in front of a very used old-style stock set of 4-spd clutch plates and discs..

The 120" sits in front of a very used old-style set of stock 4-spd clutches also..
Both sickles lock-up as fast and positively as any special super clutches you can buy..
I can spin a hole-shot or twist the wick with NO slippage or infirmity at all..

The 127" sits in front of a bone stock very used set of 1986 5-spd clutches..
Same positive lock-up and hole-shot abilities..

My point is this-- the dealers, manufacturers, magazines and your buds will have you believe that a little more power must be matched with an expensive new super heavy-duty Racing set-up that in reality is totally
un-necessary and your present set-up will work perfectly, unless of course, some other prob exists like im-proper clucth adjustment..
Your choice..

Have a ball

Hi JD

You know, one thing I forgot to suggest is YES, at least try your stock clutch before you decide if you need a new super one..

Ken
Not only are my clutches bone stock but, as you may realize, the old-style 4-spd clutches aren't designed for anything near as big as my motors..
On top of that since the old-style 10-spring 4-spd clutch is waay more adjustable than any of the newer 5-spd to present set-ups, I use the soft springs and they are adjusted out for a softer engagement..
On top of all that, I can then adjust my Mouse-trap to fine tune the entire clutch process to be very easy..

The old bone stock 5-spd has the OEM diaphram spring..
Remember Ken,, I build my sickles for two things only---performance and reliability,, if I felt I needed diff clutches Ida had em long ago.. Yeak baby..!!

frisco..I hear ya..baby !!!

Still have a '77 Kawasaki KZ-1000/1075 ( an EZ-100 hp) that the ONLY clutch mod. made was to add "used-spark-plug-washers" under the STOCK springs (same dia. on that bike) to shim/preload them THAT much...different bikes...pretty much same story...thanks !

Main thing in "mymind" though is to SEE if you NEED something..before you just go out and throw $$$$ at it.
