Thanks in advance.... |

| | Re: Iridium IX plugs I will be replacing the latest Harley[NGK] SE plugs with NGK Iridium IX plugs as I never got a code before with them in but after some 30,000 km's the bike started to act up with the Iridium plugs and that is when I installed the lastest Harley plugs and that was a big mistake. The NGK Iridium ran great, much better then anything Harley has. I will change the NGK Iridium more often for sure. |

| | Re: Iridium IX plugs NGK Iridium IX plugs PN DCPR7E1X stock number 6046 retail here for $21.00 each, cost me some $ 11.00 each last night and will install this Sat., after the bike is cooled to room temp.. The gap on their site NGK.ca calls for .040 and the crappy SE ones were only .035 and the SE cost me more for a crappy running bike. As I understand larger gap makes for better fuel mileage and smaller for more power, but with the NGK Iridium being so much better,so you get both? Just checked the ngk.com site[US site] again and they are still out dated as they only show up to 2005 for FXD models 1450cc. I e-mailed them some time ago, but they are still sleeping and never updated their site or got back to me. The ngk.ca shows up to 2007 and is faster too.

| | Re: Iridium IX plugs In my opinion, a spark plug is a spark plug. It provides an area for which the spark to jump across. Not as evoKENevo says "rocket surgery".
diesel2, you state that the NGK website states to gap to .0040 and that the Screaming Eagles were gapped at .0035. Just a quick, yet maybe silly question ... What does your Harley service manual state? That's what you should refer to, in my opinion, and not an outside, aftermarket source.

.....until I saw my gas mileage go up and temp go down!

| | Re: Iridium IX plugs Yo, Peter
You're one of the last guys I'd have expected to get that reaction from. If you got that kind of mileage & temp difference from just switching to Iridium plugs...you can bet the plugs you were running just were'nt quite right as far as heat handling and/or spark gap (adjustable w/in coil limits) etc, for your particular set up...and that you just happened to snag a set of Iridiums that are right...nothing more...nothing less
BTW in an earlier post here you wrote..."30kms more per tank. 20mpg"...and I'm not clear on the 20mpg part...typo, or kms to miles conversion, or what ???
