Question 2006 FLHTC Off and on idle trouble

Hello, I have a 06 Classic with stage 1, power commander and Sampson Rolled Thunder slip ons. Every now and then when I come to a stop engine wants to die. Weather doesn't seem cause the problem. If I don't keep RPM's up engine will shut off. No problem restarting starts right up and rides good till next stop. Only happens maybe once or twice a month Engine just broke 30k and I travel 60 miles a day 30 each way. Anyone else have similar problem???? Thanks for any help.

I noticed the exact same condition on my '06 Ultra with 30k miles on it every time I fueled up at a Shell station., I hate to point the finger at a regularly good company, I use thier gas in my work truck, but for some reason the bike just dont like Shell gas. It happened 4 or 5 times in a row all at different stations. seems odd to me, and I'll bet thier gas is the same as some of the other major stations.

Most of the time their gas is the same. The only different component is their own "taste" of additives. More than likely, the problem you are getting is more related to the gas station itself not the gas.

Perhaps if you are running prem. I have heard of some station owners doing some scams. Order 5k gals of 87, and 5k gals of 93.. knowing they can only hold 4k of 87 then get the driver to dump the 87 into the 93 tank. Now the owner just knocked down the octane of that tank and is selling 87 gas at 93 price.

Sounds a lot like my problem which seems to have been the throttle sensor was set high at idle. It was set at 5% when it should have been 0% Or at least that was what we think the problem was. Have them put it on a dyno and check out where your throttle is set at and you might find the problem. Let us know what you find out.
