'03 fat boy tranny problems?

The speedometer acts erratically and the shift linkage is never in the correct position when in gear.What's up?

Sounds like a broken shift pawl spring.

+1 on the spring, remove your speedometer sensor on the rear of your trans cover clean the crud off it and reinstall. The sensor works off a "Hall Effect", if the sensor is dirty, the signals could be erratic. Double check your battery cables for tightness.
