Default Lean condition

I have an 03 Roadking,Rheinhart exhaust,Stage 1 kit from Harley. The bike seems to run hot. The plugs are white compared to some older plugs which are tan. I checked for intake leaks with propane enrichment and carb cleaner. I found no change in RPMs. Could a cylinder temp sensor cause a lean run condition? Can this sensor be checked with an ohm meter? If so does anyone know the specs? Thanks, granpajoe

Did you have the ECM reflashed when the exhaust and air cleaner went on? The A/C actually leaned out the fuel mix by allowing more air in.

I had the ECM flashed by HD when the pipes & A/C were installed. I recently had a trouble code for a speed sensor, after it was repaired the dealer told me they cleared all codes including history codes. I wonder if that would have cleared the stage 1 download. I'll be checking with them. Thanks

Hi, granpajoe. If the dealer doesn't solve it for you get a fuel modifier, my choice is Power Commander III USB but there are numerous others that will do the job. Some extra fuel will help to cool things down a bit.

If the dealer did a stage one download chances are it was designed for an A/C kit with S.E. slip on mufflers. While this comes close, it is not the ideal setup for your Rhineharts, you definitely need an adjustable fuel management system such as the Power Commander (already mentioned here) or one of the other systems available (Vance & Hines,Cobra,etc..)These can be easily adjusted using a laptop computer & the benefits far outweigh the cost.

Granpajoe,
Ace is shooting straight with you. I'd like to add that the Cobra unit is even easier to adjust - all you need is a small flat-bladed screwdriver. Any of these systems will make a huge difference in the lean condition and make your scoot run better and cooler. I had a new Cobra shipped to my home for less than $200. Good luck.

Do you have a link to the $200 dollar Cobra - their website shows it to be $279?
