Re: The XBones is finally done...
I would agree with everyone. The bike looks great. The "bones" is a good platform in which to build upon. I've always liked the look of flat black. It is a dark bike. The brass/bronze highlights really make the flat black stand out. Which is weird since flat colors are supposed to be well...flat. I agree with the tail light lens ring. It seems to be the only part that does not flow with rest of the bike. Maybe you could find a shop to coat it for you and you could mention them when you start winning all the bike shows!

Yeah. I've been trying to decide between copper plate and black powder coat for the tail light. It'll get done this winter after the riding season along with some other stuff. I am copper plating the chrome on the dash, maybe the springer front, and maybe the spokes, depending on price.
Since these pics, I removed the sissy bar and I'm having some nicer fender mounts welded to the swing arm right now. Also the copper has changed to a nice rustic brown. I'll post some updated pics when I get the bike back.

Thanks guys! That is really nice to hear. It makes the loss of the 09 riding season a little easier to swallow.
I axed the sissy bar and added some decorative stabilizer arms instead. I plan on pin striping them this winter. I think it looks better now. Too many focal points back there, what with the up-sweeps and all.
The copper also turned a nice shade of brown, though the camera flash doesn't do it justice.
Beautiful bike, not sure if I like the copper with the brass. Is the brass solid or plated?
The copper looks better now that it has patinaed.
Who is doing your plating, I think there are different shaded of copper.
Yea on the plating the tail light.
How about making some custom turn signals, something out of copper or brass. Copper is pretty easy to work with, get some large copper tubing, maybe put some bullet casing in the front like your oil filler.
This is a real cool bike, bet it gets plenty of looks.

In real life, the copper and brass looks perfect together, but for some reason pics come out looking different. The brass is solid on the grips and springer cap, but I'm not so sure about the headlight ring, which is a bit more shiny. I definitely have to change the front turn signals. They are too big, and too stock. That copper pipe idea isn't bad. It would work well with my "soon to be" copper plated springer front end. I'm not sure of the name of the guy that did the copper plating. He is the guy the NYC Choppers uses.

Re: The XBones is finally done...
And a final thought and request.
The thought: I've been a martial artist since 1967. People say that martial art is just another way of self-expression. Some people are musicians, others are artists. I think that your bike must be the same for you. We all strive for perfection. Maybe you've accomplished that here. But if you are like me, you'll never be satisfied with perfection or it's life long pursuit.
You spoke of the front turn signals. Maybe they could be different. You could put the really discreet small ones up front. Or, maybe this would be a good time to consider those rear view mirrors that have built in turn signals. That would take care of the turn signal problem. I've owned a lot of bikes. Never customized one of them to this extent. So I would not give my opinion too much consideration!
May I have permission to save a couple of your photos for my file of great bike photos?

Humble bow,

You are right. I dont think I will ever really "be done" with this bike, as I said in the title. Always a work in progress. I did look into those mirrors. They are a little too modern looking for my bike, though the Heartland ones wouldn't look bad.
I'm happy that you like it enough to want to save pics of it. Save as many as you like.
