Speedo/Tach Problems

My 05 Deuce speedo/tach currently has 2 issues. First when I turn on the bike my speedo and tach display irratic readings, example 20mph/1500rpm or something else.... Turning off power either corrects it or irritates it worse. Second the LCD odometer display has just delaminated. I just spoke with a speedo shop, Pawls and they say the LCD cannot be replaced, that the speedo is junk. I find that hard to believe..
