rough running 03 ultra - Harley Forum

my 03 ultra, after running a while starts to run rough, first the rpm at idle will go up to 16-1800 rpm by itself, then come back down to normal, if i give it some gas, it sounds like it is flooding, or maybe not getting enough fuel, not sure, the bike never quits and will return to normal for a while, then we start all over again. No codes ever show up!!

You need to get it to someone who can A) Test the fuel pressure & check for intake leaks & B) Monitor the various sensor voltage readings while it's running.It's possible you have a sensor that is malfunctioning within the given parameters enough to cause rough running without being out of spec enough to trigger a code.Good luck & keep us posted.

Ace; tx's a lot for the good info, i did just change the fuel filter, but did not chech the pressure, will then check the various sensors, tx's again, makes sense; jethog

Since you just changed the fuel filter I would suspect the fuel pressure is low,you should run 57-63 lbs steady pressure
