Question V Rod Tuning

I have an 06 Night Rod that I just replaced the stock exhaust with the new "BuB" 7, 2 into 2. Awesome Sound! I bought the Thunder Max Continuous Tuner for over $900.00, but had to return it because I discovered that it doesn't work on V-Rods. (They are still in the process of making one for the V-Rod).

I spoke with my Harley Dealer and of course they tell me the Harley Race Tuner is the best, with about 4 hours of dyno time to set it properly. This is OK with me but I'm wondering if there are better tuners I could use. Anybody have any experience? good or bad?

(4 hours dyno time? )

I doubt there are any better, however it may be better than you need for a simple exhaust mod, if you plan on ever doing more or going into the motor than just eat it and buy one. More often than not the pipe manufacturer offers a "fueler" or a mapped pcIII. Personally I would do the air box mod, k/n filter, get the tuner and have it dyno tuned.

I agree with above post. You don't need the HD fueler for just new pipes. PC III or others work great. Go to 1130cc.com forum and search on maps for your new bubs and download to your bike. Might need to fine tune with dyno runs, but chances are you'll find a good map. The 7 series is pretty new, so there might not be much yet but it shouldn't hurt to try comparable maps.

Thanks for your response. I do have the Screamin Eagle free flow air filter. I guess I will get the HD Fueler and have it fine tuned on the DYNO.
By the way, THE BUB SEVEN'S SOUND AWESOME!!!

Thanks for the response. I am replacing the air filter with a Screamin Eagle high flor filter. I will get the HD Fueler and have it tuned on the dyno. Can't wait to see how it improves the performance. Thanks again.

Unfortunately, I did go to Ocean County Harley. I don't really care about how long they take, as long as they do a good job. Do you think they have a capable service dept? I bought the bike at Wildwood HD. They will pick up and deliver the bike anywhere in South Jersey for free.

you will see a definite difference, a bit quicker response, a bit more torquie and she'll probably come into power a bit sooner. 2 -2's are not ideal for the street, you may see a mid range issue but the top end will absolutely put a smile on your ass.

PC111USB on a dyno for a tailored map about 90 minutes and it is re tuneable when you do any mods to the bike.
