Does one have to go through the same gyrations with a VROD to get a better sounding exhaust as when trying to get a TwinCam exhaust on a better note than stock? Is it as easy and are the same considerations mandatory such as air/fuel ratio changes. I know the VROD is water cooled and was wondering if it might be an easier upgrade since one doesn't have to worry about excessive cylinder heat from too lean conditions.

Hey,Tbone
Just for the record an internal combustion engine is an internal combustion engine..too lean is too lean..and too rich is too rich..etc,etc,etc. But,"hey"..this is RJ's thread. So I'll leave the details to him..so's he can earn his keep as an editor of the rag !!!

My VROD is coming up on two years old and I'm thinking of changing the coolant out. Any advice?

Best sound is easy cut out the innner baffle of your stock pipes and you will need a PC111 or thundemax etc.

In short, YES. You need to go through the same gyrations. When you cahnge the flow characteristics of a system, weather intake with air filters, or cams, or output with exhaust cams or pipes, you need to match your fuel to keep your motor running safely.

Any silicate free coolant will work well in the V-Rod. It doesn't have to be the HD coolant. The number one reason folks opt for different color coolant is because of the Killer Glass coolant hose that is out on the market. Check out their website. Congrats if they are in order. Looks like you are the new V-Rod guy for American Iron Magazine.

I am looking forward to see what you and the magazine do about this too unloved Harley.

RJ,
I can give you all the dumb questions I've heard and you can pick deom them if you want.

Isn't that the new Buell?

That's the new Harley made in Germany, right?

That's the best hidden pop-up gas cap ever. Where is it?

While this winner was looking at my D with it's great HD emblem "That's cool! How much did that Harley badge cost you?" I told him 15 grand, but it comes with a free bike.

His sister must have come by a few minutes later "NIIICE bike! Who makes it?"
That your bike? (No, I sit around on other peoples bikes to look cool.)

Is that really a Harley? (No, it's a rolling litteracy test.)

My sons' question "Can I ride it?"

If you need more RJ, just let me know.
