Yeah. It's like having a back seat in a Mustang. There is one, but it isn't really comfortable for anyone riding back there.

No doubt and true with every V-rod model IMO. I just replied as I've never heard the F referred to as a "solo" bike!

As I understand it, none of those v-rods are for long haul????????

Long haul? Not many Harley's are really, in fact not many bikes in general are. I can ride it all day, however by long haul you mean a trip, well then it's bagger time. I might be over 50 but I ain't ready for that yet - LOL!!!

In the past few months I have done a couple 400 mile trips in my cage. My lower back was killing me up to a week after...........

I can ride my sportster the same milage and I have no back issues. I believe a rod can be used for a long haul. All depends on the person riding it. How much gear do you need to take. What kind of shape you are in.

To each his own

First off we get AIM in the UK and i buy it regularly have done for years, unlike some other US "bike" mags which just seemed to be filled with pics if semi naked women, not that i have anything against undressed femails but if i want to look at that then i would buy the appropriate mag. when i was riding airheads i found lots of the tech stuff really useful. On the subject of long hauls on a vrod i use mine for trips 3000 miles +.but found i had to modify my dx to make it more comfortable for trips that long. I changed the bars so i didn't have to lean forward so much, brought the footpegs up and back to fit me, fitted a sundowner seat and a small screen, now i can sit there all day no problem. I also have my wife on the back, tent, sleeping bags airbeds and throwovers, with enough kit for 3 weeks. So yes the vrod can tour, and to prove it I am off again next month to southern portugal for a rally and touring round spain for 3 weeks.

Bob,
I don't think Willy G planned it that way, but a long low bike with no engine vibration worth mentioning and the ability to cruise at speeds that give that give a passing nod to west Texas posted Interstate speed limits (85mph) in a southern Arizona summer, then I believe you have a long haul bike. With the seat arrangement on the F, plan on going alone.
I won't say exactly how fast I used to cruise I-10 from Phoenix to Benson with my wife on the back, but the 191 miles one way took a hair under 3 hours. We used to like to stop a the Arizona Nut House at Picacho Peak before it finally closed. (That was included in the 3 hours.)
