Default Why is this v-rod growing on me?

When the v-rod first came out, I didn't care for the all aluminum look.
I took one out for a test ride and really liked the way it responded and handled. I thought "what a great bike"., but I still didn't like the way it looked.
Now, with the changes the company has made in color schemes and different exhaust and other small changes, the bike keeps making me look it over when I'm in the dealership.
Whats up with that????

You recognize class when you see it?
I thought the dumbest TV commercial ever was H-Ds "black sheep" commercial introducing the DX. Then I rode a D and understood. The D got under our skin so fast it only took two weeks from test ride to ownership.
I saw Discovery's Birth of the V-rod. I didn't care for the V-rod. My thoughts were "Harley's building a sport bike. B-F-D."
OK, I admit it, I was WAAAAAAAY wrong. The '06 vivid black on fire red VRSCD is a beautiful bike. Contrary to the plaque I won a year ago at Toy-for-Tots, it's not a sport bike.

It is a fantastic motorcycle. Try to find someone who rides one who doesnt like it. I would recommend this bike to anyone. A pure pleasure to ride. I like a darker version as well.

It's interesting to me that Night Rod Special owners are passionate about that model specifically, in a way not even reguarding it as V-Rod. Us "DXers" might be the most enthusiastic subgroups- most of us wouldn't ride anything else now. I've owned 8 different bikes, sportys, roadkings, Triumphs, and others. The DX is the most enchanting. Other V-Rods are even outsiders to this exclusive group. Not that those bikes aren't great (except that fugly new Muscle), but I used to want one of everything, now I just want what I have... ...Very satisfied.

I've got a friend who thinks DX owners are Racist.

His position is that the DX is a V-Rod, but in a different color scheme. Therefore, those who flock to them do so only because of color. If you make your decisions based on color, you're by definition Racist.....

I have been trying to find a counter argument. Anyone wanna help me?

RJ, I guess that makes my black and red D a real minority.

I guess Motorcycleboy hasn't run up against any R riders! Man, talk about snobs.
The are almost as bad as the X guys, who really look down on the SE guys for wanting an X.
The unpainted A guys are all a bunch af stuffed shirts, being first, not needing paint, yadda, yadda, yadda.
The B guys have a real inferiority complex with their "Yah, I got a B. Wanna make somethin' of it Jerk?!?!"
Then the AW riders thinking their bikes are anodized with gold. Sorry folks, is just paint.
The SE guys with their "big" 1250 engines, that only gained 5 ponies and brought them up to the D level, unlikes the real HP jump in the X.
The Destroyer riders are just cool. They have a lot to prove and get paid doing it.
Now the poor F folks. They suffer the same syndrome the Fat Boy riders have. I could never tell ANYONE I ride a Fat Boy or a Muscle. In the adult oriented socializing establishemnts I frequent, if I were to ask a lovely lady patron if the wanted to "ride my Muscle", she would shoot me and/or remove my "muscle".
Then there's the D riders. The TRUE Night Rods. The REAL cruiser of the VRSC family. The first real all black engine with a black frame. Two riding positions; one to keep up with our R brothers that share the greater horsepower, and the other laid-back ride so we can be comfy waiting on the bikes with the swoopy pipes and the airheards. We tried to take the DX guys under our wings, but face it, the DX is just too damned ugly and uncomfortable. I say we revoke the "Night Rod" name from the DX and just leave them with "Special", as in sittin' behind the driver on the short bus.

In reality, comparing V-rodders to all other bikers, as a group we get better than any other group I've seen. We are even being accepted by the airheads and the sporties. I've even spent a few bike nights hanging out with Vmaxers and 109s. Non-V-rodders are seeing the VRSC line for what they are: a bike that the riders are passionate about, just like every other bike.
