There is just no way?
Harley V-RodDiscuss There is just no way? in the Motorcycles forums; To bring A/AW model handlebars closer to the rider without changing the clamshell. I find this extremely frustrating. I like my clamshell and guages.
Not wanting to crunch up my ...
I'm not sure I understand. What's the point of bringing the bars closer if not to reduce the clamshell?

John 1:14
It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD. ----Abraham Lincoln

You may still be able to find reduced reach bars for the V-Rod. In fact, if you drop a line to VrodG in North Carolina, he may still have a set in his garage.
They will reduce the reach and retain the Clamshell. Straitforward swap. No need to fart with brake lines and clutch lines.

Yes. But "back in the day" they had an optional handle bar for the A's. They were the reduced reach bars. They had a good amount of extra pull-back to put the rider in a more vertical position.

It's not hard. Remove the controls, take off the clamshell, remove the 2 bolts that hold the bars on (you may have to take off your headlight to get to them) and then re-assemble.

All these years I've been lead to believe that there was no way to change out the bars without changing the clamshell. I will have to search around for a set of reduced reach bars. Thank you RJ!!!!!
