| | Speed...just for kicks Just wondering how fast anyone has gone w/out a windshield and for how long?
At 90 I have to hold on for dear life and struggle to tuck in...eventually have to slow down...not co'z of the speed co'z I'm running out of road here on Guam hahaha...
Anyone have similar stories? Just wanna hear your experience. remember without a windshield or heck tell me the difference you feel with and without. |

| | Re: Speed...just for kicks 125 for about five miles on an '81 Zook 1100. Caught and passed a Nissan Z something. Unfortunately there was a cop way back that had been following him. I saw the blurred lights about 1/4 mile back in my rear view mirrors so, after quickly debating whether I should try to get away or not, I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could. Brought it down to 55 on the money thinking he might not have had a chance to clock me (and he hadn't!). No helmet (not required at that time) and about four beers under my belt.
He was red faced and furious as he asked me, "How fast were you going!?"
I said, "I don't know. My speedometer only goes to 85." (which was true for that year Suzuki). Tried to keep my breath going in the other direction. My honesty obviously threw him cuz all he could say was, "And no helmet! Are you crazy?". He just kinda stood there wondering what to do.
I smiled and shrugged my shoulders.
Just then some young dudes in a car drove by in the other direction, leaned out the window and yelled at the cop, "Get a real job!"
The cop said, "I'm gonna let you go but I'm gonna get them." And he jumped in his cruiser and tore off after those guys.
Now to answer the question here, I have a small Memphis Shade 15" windshield on my hot little FXR4. It helps some at normal cruising speeds (65-80mph) but really helps when I get over 100. I can tuck down behind it and it really helps. It's pretty aerodynamic so you don't get a lot of turbulence with it. That zook had nothin' but wasn't too bad. Until I got the Memphis Shade I was anti windshield. |

| | Re: Speed...just for kicks My trap speed is about 120mph. No windshield. The entire quarter mile run usually lasts about 11 seconds.
