Default Market For Destroyers?

Curious what the market is like for the amazing Harley factory racer Destroyers. I know when they first came out they sold like hot cakes.

I also hear there will not be any more made.

But there are still a few unsold Destroyers on the dealers' showroom floors.

Default Destroyer Market Issues

Buzz:

The market for Destoryers seems to have gotten soft New models "never been fired" are going for $22-$24k.

There are a number of issues that contribute but the racing interest in waining rapidly ( in the Destroyer Class) Factory support and lack of parts are some of the prevelent issues. both dealers who were racing them and private teams seem to be ready to move on to something else.

As far as a future market for them it would semm that history has shown us that there are better places to invest the same money and get a better return. as with other special interest models --Sturgis, Dyna Daytona CVO's--etc. They do have a very limited market for future buyers.

Of course it would be nice to have one in your garage but you can't ride it on the street. so it's a "bragging rights" thing.

Regards

This type of set-up has limited buyers from the jump and Harley knew this. Not street legal / track only is a rough sell. The fact they did as well as they did is a credit to Harley. Most guys want to do their own "wrenchin" but this was a beast, a V twin Harley that boasted 9's(?) outta the box - congrats to Harley. If cash was not an issue I'd have at least one.

I managed to ride one in 2006. It's a nice bike. I like the two step laucn box, and the instant hit. The air shifter is a sweet setup, and the bike pulls nicely.

It was the third fastest bike on the track. The other two, were owned by the same guy, I jokingly asked him if I could take a run on one of his bikes, he looked at me and said, "Take the Destroyer. It's too slow anyway." They weren't even going to run it. They just brought it for parts. This is me:

Rj,

Were you able to ride that puppy a few minutes before going into a full launch?

Very cool shot!
