Default Rumors

Rumors have been flying around for a couple of months about Harley discontinuing the Street Rod motorcycle.

I don't know if this is the case, but it so, too bad. I liked the Harley Street Rod and would rank it my favorite of the V-Rod series.

While I am seeing a few more Harley V-Rods, they don't seem to see too well at least where I live.

I've never ridden one and am in no hurry to either. They just don't look like a Harley to me. Might be good bikes, but I want to ride a bike that looks like what I want to ride.

Then again, it took me years to finally try a Harley bagger and buy one, so ya never know.

I like the Night Rod. Looks like a "Hot Wheel " for grown-ups. The nimb-rods are nice bikes. I test rode one. It was fine but it lacks that Harley feel to it.
Just not the same as the Air cooled 'I can see the motor in the frame' bikes Harley is known for. I would not give up on it. Just rethink it a bit.

VRODs are huge in Europe, and HD has a lot of time and money wrapped up in them, so I don't think they'll be discontinuing them anytime soon. If anything more of their tech will be finding their way to other bikes.
I'd love to have one instead of just riding one occassionally. Their not supposed to be like other Harleys, which I think a lot of the old school guys don't get, but that's ok. To each their own. How many out there have 2 bikes that are night an day - One for around town and fun, like a Sporty or chopper, and a big ol' geezer glide or something? Same idea.

Looks like the rumors are true... no more Street Rod. Apparently the 'target audience' didn't want a fast bike that handles great.

At least the Night Rod is still kicking. Probably one of the best values in the Harley lineup.

AW, D, and DX are the only options for 2008. Not that I'm complaining.

Unhappy V-rod rumors

Not hard to see why HD would be having a problem selling ANY of the new scooters...the dealers ( at least here in the Mid-West) don't seem to want to "deal", all they want to do is "sell"........on their terms.
After spending part of the Summer trying to find a dealer that actually offered a reasonable trade-in; I have given up and will keep what I have or buy from a private owner.
I refuse to accept a minimal offer for my old bike just to get a new one.

Unlike cars, this is traditionally the worst time of year to sell a bike. You will take a beating any time of year trading in a bike, any bike. On the other hand it's usually a good time to buy a bike in the cooler parts of the country where nobody is thinking about riding. I got lucky have a long time friend that owns an H-D dealership. Even at that I only got a fair deal. Nothing exceptional, except that we got the bike we wanted with no waiting.
