18" wheels vs 16" on the Road King Custom - Harley Forum

I will be installing new wheels on my 04 FLHRSI and am considering one of 3 combinations, going with the stock 16" wheels, going to 18" wheels or doing a 16" rear wheel with an 18" front wheel. Stock size front tire and perhaps a slightly wider rear tire depending on fit. This is my 1st bagger so I'm definately in the dark here. What are the advantages/disadvantages to the 2 combo's which are not stock?

The 18" wheels would give you more in the looks department and slightly better handling because of the shorter side wall but you will be giving up a little bit in the comfort department. I never heard of anyone doing a 16" in the rear and an 18" up front but i would think your handling might be affected somewhat. If i were you i would either go to the 18" front and rear or stay with the 16 inchers

How about buell 17inch rims front and back;then you could upgrade to new front brake?
