Default Rear Tire Milage

While your talking tires. I'm riding an 03 Ultra and finding out, much to my dismay, that even if you keep the tire pressures where they belong, I'm only geting 6500 to 7000 miles out of a rear. Does this story hold true to all baggers. Dunlop is the tire I'm on at the moment. Is there anything better or are the roads in PA. just hard on tires.

I run dunlop on an fxst I let it get out of alinement for a short time and still have 40% tread left at 15000 miles. I run a small bike shop and get a lot of complaints on tires. I find that dunlop ususlly out last most however on rubber mount bikes Metzler seems to be the one to run. I hope others may put in their aspect as well I like to hear if this is common.

I put about 12k on the original dunlop. I got about 9k, each, out of a couple of ME880's. I believe the weight of the bike will definitely make a difference, as in the heavier bagger will wear out a tire quicker. Just a thought, I don't have any proof. Most importantly, the riding style makes all the difference. Ride conservative and you'll get more out of it.

Got 13,000 out the original set of Dunlops on an '02 Lowrider.
I have 9,000 on the second set and they are still in good shape.

I have 17,000 on my set of Dunlops for my 04 sporty. I will be replacing them soon. No complaints. I have a buddy that has a 05 sporty with about 4,000 and his tires are chewed up pretty good. Course he needs to learn to ride a little better. Easy on the brakes, Down shift and dont hit the corners as hard. Be the bike and dont fight it.

As I've said a couple times, the Metz 880's are my favorite...
I get about a year(14,000 mi.approx) out of a set on the 93" shovel and the heavy deep breathing 80" EVO bag,, and that's with lots an lots of shovelhead hole-shots...
I look forward to putting another one on the 120" but, I cannot seem to wear out it's rear Avon 150/16HB super-venom, it must have over 20,000 miles, literally hundreds of hole-shots and still has several thousand miles left on it... Even got a nail, pulled it, shoved in one of those push-in rope plugs and it just keeps on rolling... Avon is my 2nd fav... I will put on a Metz when it finally wears out but jeeeze......... Tell ya what though,, the front super-venom is perhaps the worst front I've ever run...

Got 23,000 miles out of my original Dunlops before i switched to Metz 880's, i'll never go back. When switching to an aftermarket tire always use their pressure recommendations not the service manuals.

I get around 8-9k from my rear dunlops on the 94 ultra- hard on the fuel, and the brakes. Gonna look into those metzs' soon. What are they like in the rain? Always looking to make it better...

Great in the rain. Expect to get less mileage with the metz 880's. The key is to make sure you always check your pressure. Min is 38psi front 44psi rear. I run 40psi front and 46psi rear on my superglide. On your FLH you may want to kick it up a little bit more.
