Default Nitrogen vs. compressed air

I am thinking about switching to nitrogen on my 2004 FLSTC. Can someone give me some pros and cons?

when using air (compressed air)....you have the moisture problem to deal with..... in your air tools/lines/paint gun etc....as far as nitrogen to inflate tires....i think its a good thing.....some say road/tire temperature has no affect
and i have nothing to back this up.....just my standard dribble....Paelo/early man

I dunno. Air seemed to work just fine all these years. Cheaper too!

This ? has come up numerous times and we like to joke about it cuz heck, the air we breath is 78% Nitrogen..

Here's a great article I found via Google, read it and others you'll find and either laugh or fall for the hype..

When you get a new tire.... make SURE they install NEW air too.......

I think Nascar uses Nitrogen to keep the tires at an even and more stable pressure due to the heat they endure at over 180 mph. a couple degrees difference at those speeds can cause a whole lotta problems, since with heat comes increase pressure with plain air. But in a bike tire, I dont think there are any real benefits on a street bike.

We used nitrogen on the aircraft I worked on in the A.F. for the reduced moisture as well as the no pressure fluctuation and always worked for us. That's on airplanes though, whether it would benefit using it in a bike tire would be cost effective depends on what stuff you have at your disposal. If you work at a shop where it is readily available sure but to lease a bottle to keep around I gues it's your call. I personally have an air compressor in the garage works well check'em once every couple of weeks or when the weather changes drastically.

If you can wait for customer appreciation day at the dealership you get 30% off.

I read somewhere that nitrogen molecules were larger than just plain air and wouldnt leak out as fast !
