Default Putting FatBoy wheels on a Heritage?

I got a set of 1995 FatBoy wheels I am going to put on my 1995 Heritage. Does anyone know if this is going to be a direct bolt on procedure? Will I have to use the stcok rotors or use FatBoy rotors? Thanks.

You can make any engine/chassis family work together. I cannot say for a fact, but with enough spacers, yes, it will work with rotor and all.

Use the better brake disc that has more meat on it or less wear. Those bolts are loctited. So breaking or rounding the hex head of the tool is paramount. Ruin that hex and the headache begins.

Make sure the bearings are not damaged or replace with new if you do not know the history of storage, or [low] mileage of the bearings.

Hi 1Haugs

I have no doubt they will interchange..

Here is a quick measurement for the next time..

Lay down the replacement wheel Brake Rotor side UP..
Lay a long enough level or straight-edge across the rotor or rotor mounting surface of the hub if the rotor is not bolted on..
Measure down from the level to the Outer most part of the outer bead..
If the replacement wheel measures the same as the wheel to be replaced then you can even use the original wheels Outer axel spacer on the Brake rotor side and you can then be sure the wheel will fit in the same position as the first..
Of course this all depends on both wheels being the same size, i.e. both are 16 x 3" wheels or both are 16 x 4.25" wheels, etc. etc..
If the measurement for both wheels is the same on the Belt Pulley side too, you're sitten in tall grass baby..
Another way is to use a long enough straight-edge across the surfaces and measure into the Dead Center of the tire..
I've used both ways including my wheel centering Jig..

It's up to you but I Never use Locktite on wheel bolts or hardly anything for that matter..
In fact I dab on a wee bit of NeverSeize to assure easy dissembly..
Correct torque is a better friend than Locktite..
Remember you're screwing Grade 5 or Grade 8 hard steel bolts into Aluminum..
Your call..

And yes,, check bearings and races..
If you buy the race removal tool (in case you ever need it) you'll free youself from the "shop"..

Frisco,
Thanks for adding in the bit about Loctite, I dont think I have used it more than 3 times in the last few years. in fact the never seize is what I reach for every time when installing steel bolts into Aluminum. Thank you for confirming this for me. With some recent talk about Loctite, I was starting to wonder if I needed to start using it. I'll stick to my old ways..

I just put '04 fatboy wheels & tires on my '02 heritage with no problem. The only difference was the tire size on the rear, 150/80 vs 130/90(stock). The clearance on the rear fender was minimal so I had to change the saddlebag bolts to flush head bolts I made to install from the inside of the fender. I did notice a big difference in cross wind handling. I had heard this on previous forums, but didn't think I would notice it on my big bike. The best way to describe the difference is that it feel like the wheels are moving sideways with the wind, instead of you and the top of the bike being blown sideways, a real different feeling.
