called my HD dealer and they said only $42 for a new tube and rim strip if i bring it to them off the bike ( $84 plus parts if i bring them the whole bike). Not bad.....now can someone please please let me know what i need, tool wise, to remove the front wheel. I'm only asking because i have to gather the tools here from work to go to where the bike is to remove it. I am assuming i have to remove the brake caliper, the 2 axle nuts and the other 2 bolts on the axle.....please please please.

called HD service and they told me i need the following tools;
3/4" socket for axle nut
9/16" socket & 5/16" allen key to loosen pinch bolts on axle
and maybe a 10mm 12 point socket to remove the brake caliber, but he said i shouldnt have to remove the caliber with a spoked wheel

Cool of them to tell me that information.

Here's why you want to have a service manual. The manual for my 05xl1200 says when re-installing the front wheel to install a 7/16'' drill bit into the hole in the axle and pull the drill bit against the edge of fork leg. Tighten axle pinch screw to 21-27 ft lbs. My manual states to tighten axle nut to 50-55 ft lbs. Hope this helps and I'll check back later. Good luck!

When buying a tire on-line or through the mail, just remember if you don't mount and balance it yourself odds are the shop you take it to will charge a premium for mounting a tire you supplied them.

Good luck.
You have to shop for that service as well.
I saved near $200 buying Avon's on line Vs. the stealership. No shipping and no tax.
240/40/18 and a 120/70/19 - $411.00 to my door.

well, all went well. They were wrong about the size of the axle nut though, it was 15/16" not 3/4". Glad i had a box wrench that size in my tool box. And yes, i got it off with a box wrench. It wasnt very tight, i expected it to be a real b*@$%, but it was actually really east to remove. The HD dealer did charge me a half hour extra labor for having to deal with the fix-a-flat that was in the tire, but i didnt mond, that stuff is nasty. Bike goes to the dealer next month for the 5000 mile service so i'm a happy campler now. Safe riding to everyone, and thanks for the help.
