Default Lightest Strong Wheels For Sportster?

I am considering a possible magazine project based on a XR-1000 Sportster and I'm trying to figure out who has the lightest wheels for it. The XR-1000 is a cool bike but it weighs WAY too much and I need to put it on a diet. I'll start with the wheels and possibly front end, but they have to be strong and dependable. Any suggestions out there? Thanks. Buzz Kanter

Wires are good. Anyone have any suggestions for billet, cast or other style of wheels?

You have (arguably) one of the best wheel cutters in the business right around the corner...Rowe Machine They will design pretty near whatever you want...But they are pricy.

If you want light, go with aluminum. Forged is strongest, billet's right behind it; but what kind of aluminum also plays a big part in weight and strength.
Weld is a great name, all their wheels are forged, and many of the wheel makers out there start with a Weld wheel blank.

Sorry, but what are "tuber" Buells? A term I'm not familiar with.

What's the budget? If I hit lotto I'm trying out those carbon-fiber rims from Revolution Manufacturing. $3500 each(?)! Ack! But they gotta be way lighter, super strong, and bullet-proof.
