Hi Man

I have never used one of those small compressors,, I think ShovelMike said he carries one..

I simply carry the Compressed Nitrogen cylinders that come with many of the Plug Kits..
I used them to fill my tire in the shop just to make sure I knew how and if they work as advertised,,, and dang-it all, they worked like a charm..
Took 3 if I remember..
I've had to plug my tires about 3 times now and never worried about replacing them,, I run them till they're worn out with never a prob..
Each one went to NM and back at over 100 at least once..

Just some alternative info..

I bought the smallest compressor I could find at the auto parts store and it stored quite well in the Ultra saddle bag. For people with less storage space Motorcycle Consumer News did an article not long ago where they dismantled a compressor similar to the one I bought, eliminating the pressure guage and the plastic case, not pretty but gets the job done and is compact.
And hey...welcome to the forum.(:

I carry one made by Slime and got it from J&P Cycle. Pretty compact and packs well.

Walmart has a small, compact little compressor that I bought for less than $10.00. I carry it in the saddlebag. Just for S&Gs one day I let the air out of my front tire just to see if the little compressor could handle pumping it up. Plugged into the cig lighter outlet. No problem, it hit 40 lbs after a few minutes. Good deal.

Don't ever underestimate those little compressors or turn your back on them for any length of time while pumping up your tires. Some of them pump out 250psi or more...and you really-really don't want THAT to happen..

I keep one in the trunk of my car that fits perfectly in the tool box along with a varietly of "emergency" tools & jumper cables etc. And it's come in handy several times over the years. But, I really like Frisco's idea about the little nitrogen bottles for the bike...
