Default Time for some new rubber on the scoot...

Anyone have any suggestions on brand/model for a 08 Softail? I'm not sure I'm even comfortable riding the scoot right now after getting a good glimpse of the rear tire while it was on the lift getting the oil changed. The front isn't much better off than the back.

Been eyeballing Avon Cobra's; one of my riding buddies just put Pirelli Night Dragon's on his scoot and loves 'em...need to see if they have them in my size.

Thanks for any suggestions

Avon's are great although I have not run Cobras. Not cheap, but well worth the money IMO. I order from - American Motorcycle Tire as prices are great and shipping is reasonable. Good customer service and they ship as well. No affiliation, just my .02 n fact i'll be ordering another from them tomorrow.

I just put a set of the Michelin/H-D co-branded Scorchers on my Dyna and I'll thrilled with the way they perform. Looks like Michelin is doing the co-branded tires with Harley for their new models now. They're excellent tires.

The new Michelin Scorchers are said to have much better mileage because of their carbon black-enriched rubber compounds which they claim offer long wear without compromising performance.

They really do hook up well in the turns. We'll see how they last.

Keep it coming guys and Thanks to those who have responded. From doing some research it looks like I'm pretty limited. The cobra's are available in my size, but if I understand it correctly the cobra for the front is a tubeless tire and per my service manual all spoke HD wheels use tubes, the night dragons are available in my size and hook really well in the corners, but even Pirelli says you'll only 6-8k miles out of them. I haven't ran across a set of Michelins that are available in my size or Dunlop E 3's. I like the price tag the night dragons' carry, but the limited mileage out of them is a big turn off for me. Just dunno know yet...

Once you find the brand you want, check locally for mounting price. Sometimes having tires mounted that were bought elsewhere is quite expensive. Oh, you can run a tube in a tubless tire, just not the other way around.

I've been running tubes in my tubeless tires for 10,000+.

Man, you weren't kidding about mounting prices. In my area it ranges from 80 up to 200 bucks. Average price was 80 to 100, but still that's pretty steep. Where I buy my vehicle tires mounting and balance is 6.25 a tire, granted I understand there is a little less involve in changing the back.

grampadac- What brand tires you running to get 10,000+ miles out of?
