| | Best Harley For Woman Rider My wife is thinking about starting riding and she wants a Harley. She is almost 5 foot 6.
Recomendations on what you think she might be most comfortable with for a first real bike (after riding little scooters many years ago). |

| | Its a toss up JayDee.......Some will tell you to go right to a Sporty. But I have know a number of gals who started out on the softail lineup and are doing just fine. Plus they love the bikes. She just has to try a few and see which one she is comfortable on. |

| | I have found that a softtail, has been the best for all beginer riders, male or female. Unless the sporty is a custom, the center of gravity is much higher. THe softtail has a much lower center of gravity and tracks real true.

| | I agree w/ the really low seat height comment w/ the Softail... but didn't he say his wife was 5'6"? She should be okay on just about anything at that height.

| | I'd suggest a rider education course if she hasn't ridden on her own much. Keep her safe and upright. |

| | The best bike is one that fits her. I know a lot of women that learned on a Buell Blast or a Honda Rebel because they were lighter and not overpowering them. Usually within a year they were ready for, and wanting, a bigger bike. |

| | I agree the softtails are probably the lowest of the current crop of bikes but this summer my sister came out to California to visit and when she sat on my 2000 FXR4 she could put both feet comfortably flat on the ground. She's 5'6". The FXR4 has 12" shocks in the rear as opposed to the 13"ers on some of the taller FXR's like the FXRP. I think the Lowrider FXR's have 11" shocks and are even lower.
The point here is that the "Lowrider" models of the Dyna lineup may fit a 5' 6" woman just fine. Personally I prefer the handling of the Dyna's and FXR's over the Softails. Of course the Softails have a pretty cool look to them. | | | |
