I was talking to my mother last year she was 73 I think. I had found out she was riding with my sister at one time. She seemed kind of sad and i ask her why. This was a discussion we had after my sister was killed on her bike. Well she mentioned that she was upset that she had not been on a ride on the Harley. She was a very busy woman all her life and we are just working people.when i was young i would take her for rides from time to time. This was recreation for her , a pleasant departure from the norm. But now she is telling me this a 73. But you know what , life is short and if she wants a ride on the Harley and has the gumption to ask who am i to refuse.
Her name is Theresa. Now her legs are shot and i don't know what she remembers. So i give her the look were we are turning , show her the passenger foot pegs , and if she melts her shoes on the exhaust so be it , ill just clean it huh.
Now this is a problem because her legs are shot, she cant lift them very high. So i tell her listen Im right here , the bike is on the stand and ill just pick you up and set you on it. Yes its crazy , but its a free country and if she want a ride on the scooter who the hell else will she ask. So i set her on it and look to see if her feet are on the pegs , they are. I get on the bike and tell her to wrap her arms around me immediately and bunch up the jacket in her hands , she does. I right the bike and ask her if she feels ok and is she ready, she says she is. Off we went. Now there were no wheelies of old , or hot rod shots down the free way at 90 +. Just a nice ride around the residential naiborhood about 40 minutes with checks along the way. She was totally happy and totally smiling especially since all and their dog noticed and waved at her. I was a perfect day , not to hot nor cold with a nice breeze. when i got her back , she said she could get off, so i went to a high part of the curb and leaned the bike way over , way over and she did the rest , well what do you know. That old girl is something else.

I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. That is tough to take.

I enjoyed reading your story. You and Theresa are the absolute bomb...

to everyone that was hear, almost drop the harley 4 days ago, came in hot to the light to avoid having to wait, it turned cold and the hand was screaming and all of a sudden there is youngster bunny in the darn road , just walked right out and stopped. So i expertly desperation stoped. You know the kind of sloppy skid were the car people all say to themselves oh look this is going to be good , lock the back tire hit the front . the little sucker just looked at me like " your not really going to run me over are you " I thought well i could go right and then that small still voice said no 10 bucks he bolts that way. mean while the distance is closing fast. So with all the years of riding i referenced my experience and recalled taladega or thunder movie , if i remember correctly they said if you head for the wreck the wreck will move and you can go through. so i headed straight for him and thought at three feet ill cut left because the closest grass is to the right and returned his look with " your not really going to just sit there and let me do all the work are you look ?" well the little sucker broke right, the way he came , and we both live another day. one would like to think there are kind people in the world but i could just see me going before the glory seat and suddenly the huge hand of GOd lands on my should and the echo of "ok roll " , and what do i see, its the damb bunny movie , had i rolled over him .

I like the elderly with gumption, God only know unless i become crippled ill never stop riding, its a blast. Plus its a free country and she like's the attention , every one waves, isnt that funny.
